Our Trip to Boston

We didn't have alot of time for sightseeing in Boston, but one of the things you must do is to take a Duck Tour. It takes you through the historic streets of Boston and up the scenic Charles River. The vehicle is a two and a half ton GMC six-wheel drive truck with the body stripped off, and an added steel hull, propeller and gearbox to drive the propeller shaft. Although the vehicle was officially named DUKW, soldiers always called them "Ducks". Our particular "duck" was named Molly Molasses. I unfortunately didn't get a picture of it. Here is a picture of our ConDUCKtor, Captain Supersize. Sorry about the glaring sun.

This is the Massachusetts State House. The dome is covered in real gold.

This is a piece of the Berlin Wall protected by plexi-glass.

Fenway Park. My first time to a professional baseball game! We had excellent seats!

This is the Finish Line to the Boston Marathon. Sorry it's not a better picture but we were driving over it.

As part of Rob's APA convention there was a 5K race that I took part in. I got to run with Olympian Runner Bill Rodgers, Winner of Boston and New York Marathons.

I ran across Ben Franklin at Quincy Market!

Some other highlights of our tour were: Boston Common, Citgo Sign(which is 60 by 60 feet), Sam Adams & Paul Revere's gravesites, Swan Boats, U.S.S. Constitution, Back Bay, Boston Public Library, Bunker Hill Monument, Copley Square, and Faneuil Hall. We also heard about The Great Molasses Flood that killed 21 people.

The end result

I couldn't leave out this one of the yummy green beans and cucumbers that his hard work produced.

My little Gardener

I found some other pictures to post. Dantae went to my parents farm back in May and got to help plant the garden. Then he went for another visit and got to see how everything had grown.

Here he is planting green beans.

Here he is hoeing the weeds.

He's playing in Grandpa's tractor after working so hard in the garden.

This is just a picture I took when Justus and I were at my parents house in June.

Still Alive

I know it's been quite some time since I've posted. We've been pretty busy around here studying. Rob is taking prelims today and tomorrow and I've been trying to study for the GRE. My mom had came down and was a tremendous help watching the kids so that I could get some good study time in. But she left August 5th and it's slow going now. So now I'm trying to get Rob and I packed to go to Boston on Thursday. He is presenting two posters at the American Psychological Association Convention. When we get back home, Dantae will start school the next day so this past weekend we went to the Fish Hatchery & Aquarium and Kartrax in Yankton. He loved the go karts! Justus, on the other hand, did not. Dantae and I celebrated our birthdays on the 6th and 8th and since we haven't had a party for him we may take him and a couple friends over to the go karts. I can't believe our summer is almost over. Boo-hoo.
